The FMT-22 is a high-quality transit time ultrasonic flow meter used to measure liquid flow in a full or closed pipe. The meter is designed with ease of operation, high accuracy and outstanding reliability. The software is very user friendly. The FMT-22 employs a patented technology which minimizes electrical interference so that the meter will work properly even in demanding industrial environments.

Theory of Operation
The FMT-22 uses two transmitters that function as both an ultrasonic transmitter and receiver. The transducers are clamped on the outside of a pipe at a specific distance from one another. The flow meter operates by alternately transmitting and receiving a modulated burst of sound energy between the transducers and measuring the transit time it takes for the sound to travel between the transducers.  The difference in transit time measured is directly and exactly related to the velocity of liquid in the pipe.

Best Used with Relatively Clean Liquids with Full Pipes
For proper operation the flow meter requires a full pipe.  Also, since the flow meter measures flow rate by transmitting an ultrasonic signal between the two transducers, particulates in the liquid can obstruct the signal and impact the accuracy of the measurement.  Applications with liquids containing less than 50ppm of particulates 50 microns or less in diameter are typically good applications for this transit time flow meter.  If your liquid contains higher amounts of particulates, please contact us and we will be happy to discuss your application.

Battery or AC Powered
The FMT-22 is powered by a rechargeable NI-H battery which will provide over 10 hours of operation. It also includes an AC power adapter for continuous operation.

Built in Data Logger and RS232 Interface
The built-in data logger can store 2,000 lines of data or the data can be sent directly to a computer or PLC via the RS232 interface.
