AirGate Modbus is a gateway specially designed to build a wireless sensor network. It can be used as a Modbus RS485 network extender, offering flexibility and scalability for various networks. This device stands out in several aspects. First the long range wireless communication - up to 1000 m (3200 ft). Operating with NOVUS-Air protocol (802.15.4), in a self-contained wireless network, AirGate Modbus works independently from the IT infrastructure. Its communication has data traffic security, assured by 128-bit encryption, and smart hopping on free-of-interference available frequencies, providing stability and reliability for the wireless link. Simple installation and configuration combined with diagnosis feature make AirGate-Modbus an outstanding wireless device for field commissioning and the right solution for applications requiring flexibility, high performance and connectivity.
MODES OF OPERATION
WIRELESS SEGMENTS IN ANY POINT OF A MODBUS NETWORK
In this configuration the wireless connection can occur far from the Modbus master. The RS485 port AirGate-Modbus is used to communicate with the master and the wired slaves. Additional wireless segments can be added.
WIRELESS SEGMENTS CLOSE TO THE MODBUS MASTER
An AirGate-Modbus is located close to the Modbus master which communicates by USB port connects wirelessly to the rest of the network.
WIRELESS SEGMENTS CLOSE TO MULTIPLEXED MODBUS MASTERS
Multiplexing of 2 masters, one connected to the USB interface and another to the RS485. The AirGate-Modbus close to the Modbus masters. It
also allows the usage of a single master in any of the two interfaces (USB or RS485).
Software Configuration
DigiConfig is a free downloadable Windows application for the AirGate-Modbus configuration.
