I believe you are saying that you have a hot plate which can go up to 550°F and you need a device that will provide an indication when the temperature is higher than 140°F.for safety purposes. In general you would need a sensor that can measure the temperature plus an instrument which can provide a temperature indication. One solution is to use a thermocouple like our . Since this is a beaded thermocouple it would provide the most accurate reading if you can drill a small hole in the hot plate and insert the thermocouple into the hole. The thermocouple could be connected to an indicator like our N1040i to provide an indication of the temperature.
