The micro UIRT/C has a fixed emissivity of 0.9 and spectral response of 5.5 to 20μm which make it unsuitable for measuring shiny metal. If, however, you can apply a surface coating to the metal such as a paint or varnish, the micro UIRT/C should work for that application. For an non-coated shiny metal surface we normally suggest a sensor with both adjustable emissivity and a spectral response around the 2 micron range. The PyroMini2.2 and PyroUSB are two possible options. Please be aware that the versions of the PyroUSB suitable for reflective surfaces are those models that have a part number starting with IR-CA-PUA2 (the "2" signifies the spectral response).
